Hopatcong Parents Go Back to School This Week
Also, the mayor and council meet, while the Senior Center hosts poll worker training.

In the surest sign yet that summer for all intents and purposes is really most sincerely dead, schools across Hopatcong are back in session and humming right along. This promises to be a busy week on the educational front:
Parents continue to acclimate themselves for the new school year. That continues this week at the Durban Avenue School, which holds its Grade 4 Back to School Night Monday at 7 p.m. Grade 5 parents get to meet with their children's teachers Tuesday at 7 p.m.
At Hopatcong High School, the Booster Club meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. to prepare for fall fundraisers for athletic teams. HHS holds a fall Flu Clinic in its auxiliary gym Thursday from 4-7 p.m. And the school welcomes parents Thursday for Back to School Night at 6:45 p.m.
Back to School Nights also happen at Hudson Maxim School. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., parents of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students are invited to come and talk about the academic year with their children's teachers. First-grade parents get their turn Thursday at 7 p.m.
On the municipal government calendar, the Land Use Committee gathers at Borough Hall Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Borough Council and Mayor Sylvia Petillo hold their second September meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Among the items on the agenda: The council will consider adopting ordinances to establish new minimum and maximum salary ranges for certain municipal officers and employees.
Finally, the Hopatcong Senior Center will host a training for people interested in working the polls in the upcoming special Oct. 16 U.S. Senate and Nov. 5 general elections. The training takes place form 2-7:30 p.m. at 32 Lakeside Blvd.
