Hudson Maxim School Meets the Parents, Sparta Planning Board Gathers
The daily planner for Hopatcong-Sparta.

Here's what you need to know in Hopatcong and Sparta for Wednesday.
- Area parents are still meeting their children's parents at local schools. On Wednesday, it's Back to School Night at Hudson Maxim School. Starting at 7 p.m., parents of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students are invited to sit in tiny chairs and talk about the academic year with their children's teachers.
- The Sparta Township Planning Board gathers for its monthly meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 65 Main St. The public is invited to witness the body's deliberations over proposed building development.
- The Sparta Public Works Complex at 15 Prices Lane continues its week-long storm waste drop-off. Today through Saturday, from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., residents and independent contractors hired by residents may drop off brush and debris left after last week's severe thunderstorms. The DPW has indicated certain rules must be followed: No stumps; leaves, bagged or otherwise; vines; grass clippings or building materials are permitted at the DPW complex.
- Volunteers are still needed for the Lake Hopatcong Foundation's community clean-up effort of lower lake level areas. The rain or shine event will be held Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon. (Extreme weather will push the date to Nov. 16.) To do your part, call Donna at 973-663-2500.
