'Academy' Awards Given to Jefferson Students
Multimedia projects garner accolades for students in grades kindergarten through 12.

The academy of the Jefferson Township school district, that is.
Students entered multimedia projects in more than 20 different categories for the district’s annual Academy Awards, including: Non-Fiction, Foreign Film, Movie Trailer, Commercial, Debate, Personal Drama, Environment, Personal Narrative, Podcast/Radio Show, Character Counts, Public Service Announcement, Current Events, Action Film, Story Jumper, Music Video, Top Ten List, Interview, Animation, Sound Track, Social Issues, People’s Choice, Tutorial and Digital Book.

The event promotes the integration of technology into the classroom, according to a statement by the school. It allows for students to use critical thinking skills, collaboration techniques, and creativity.
Fifty-six awards were given during the May event and 27 more productions were entered this year over last year. The event included a red carpet, props for a photo shoot and popcorn.

Students in grades Kindergarten through 12 were able to participate in the third annual event, which was hosted by Nancy Harris, the district’s Gifted & Talented teacher and Kelly Villa, Supervisor of Instructional Technology.
Each winning student, of course, received their very own miniature Oscar award.
