Man Charged In Connection With Jewelry Store Theft At Livingston Mall
A jewelry store was robbed twice in Livingston in fall, and now one man has been charged in connection with one of the crimes.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — After a jewelry store at the Livingston Mall was robbed twice in fall, police have charged a suspect in connection with one of the incidents, they said.
Police said that on Tuesday, Dec. 20, they charged Samuel Carlos, 34, from Mount Vernon, NY, with theft.
The incident occurred at Roma Jewelers at the Livingston Mall on Nov. 13 .

Police responded at 3:07 p.m. that day, they said. The owner of the store said that a person came in and asked to see a gold chain worth $2,000.
"As soon as the suspect was given the necklace, he ran out of the store with it," police said. "He was then joined by another suspect who was waiting outside the store and both took off running and fled the scene."

Det. Spano investigated the case and ultimately arrested Carlos, police said. He was charged on Dec. 20 with theft and released on a summons pending a court date, police said.
No information was released on other suspects.
Back in September, a thief had asked to see jewelry at the same store and made off with $20,000 in merchandise.
And the month before that, someone asked to see jewelry at the Macy's at the Livingston Mall on a Sunday night, and ran off with $87,000 in merchandise, police said.
