How can Washington Township government be made more efficient?

What does the township spend our tax dollars on right now? Who makes those decisions? Let's go through the budget items and not stop there. How about the organization itself? Who runs what? and what work is being done? For instance, it seems to me there is too much pruning being done by the road crew and not enough real road improvement.

How does Washington Township stack up against other communities with the number or employees per 1. number of residents? 2. number of square miles? 3. number of burglaries and violent crime?

Is our local government bloated? how specifically?

Is there any area of government that is cost effective? That is doing more with less?

Please suggest how to make our tax dollars go farther. Let's not argue about increasing or cutting taxes or cutting or increasing spending. Let's focus on efficiencies. Yes, a conversation like this gets messy, but we each have a vested interest in getting what we want out of our government.

Private industry has been making improvements in efficiencies for years yet there is little or no improvement in government services in spite of the fact we pay higher taxes. I for one, want better service and lower taxes and why not?
