'Tis The Season To Try Something New
New activities and sports at the high school begin for the winter season.
There are many new activities starting at the high school, especially geared towards students with a musical interest. Pep band and the musical being the most prominent, both of which I am involved in.
This year, our school has a new student run group that will be playing at most of our basketball games and possibly at some other sporting events - the pep band! A couple of students were upset that marching band was over and decided to create the pep band. It is a smaller group than marching band, that anyone can join. Even if a student wasn’t in marching band, it will be a fun and exciting new experience. We will be rehearsing Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. most likely and will hopefully begin performing once basketball games start!
The musical is also beginning. On Monday and Tuesday, vocal auditions are taking place, followed by dance auditions on Thursday. I have done the musical the past 2 years and it is always a lot of fun. I always meet some new people and grow close to the cast. Usually, there are no cuts so everybody that tries out gets a part. I am not 100% sure that is happening this year but it seems to be what will happen. The musical this year is My Fair Lady. Anyone interested could talk to Mr. Hogan, Mrs. Quinn, or any of the music teachers at the high school.
