Winter Wonderland ... in October.

The October storm had different effects for the students at West Morris.

Three snow days in a row is rare enough. The first week of November? A once in a high school lifetime chance. However, some kids aren’t enjoying it as much as others.

Many students are still without power, living the Amish life. Some have power and have ten kids sleeping at their houses for warmth and food. Some students want school to open as soon as possible because they are bored of not having to go to school.  And some are enjoying lounging and hanging out with their friends.

I fall into the category of having power and still wanting to get back to school. Monday was fun. Tuesday was exciting. Wednesday just got boring. When the school made attendance on Thursday optional, surprisingly, a lot of students wanted to go. How often do you hear a teenager want to go to school? There were a lot of students at school, probably there for various reasons. Some just wanted a place with power, some parents made their kids go, and some kids just wanted to see their friends.

People are also worried that since we already used 4 snow days, we will have almost no spring break by the time winter is over! There have been rumors though that since New Jersey is in a state of emergency, the days won’t count against us which would make the student body very happy.

Nevertheless, school is back on a normal schedule and people are beginning to get back to normal routine life after the crazy snowstorm of October 29th.
