Cop Uses Computer Cable To Save Life Of NJ Man Who Shot Himself

A quick-thinking trooper used a computer cable as a tourniquet after a man accidentally shot himself in the leg.

KNOWLTON, NJ — A man who accidentally shot himself in the leg on Wednesday is still alive thanks to a quick thinking New Jersey State Trooper who used a computer cable and arrow to stop the bleeding.

Trooper Roy Sanchez was called to a Knowlton Township home Wednesday afternoon after a man accidentally shot himself in the leg, NJ State Police said. He radioed for advanced life support, but the man was bleeding too heavily to wait. Using a computer cable and a decorative arrow, Sanchez made a makeshift tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

Troopers Aaron Coleman and Trooper Michael Butler arrived shortly after the tourniquet was applied, and together the three troopers moved a desk to make it easier to help the man, police said.
