September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month. The world won't turn blue like it turns pink in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Prostate cancer won't be all over the news or on billboards. You won't be asked to donate at the checkout counter, and you won't see blue ribbons on labels of your favorite foods. Most people won't even know. Yet more men are diagnosed with prostate cancer than women with breast cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men and it's the 2nd cause of cancer death in men. There are over 240,000 new cases each year. In 2011, prostate cancer took 33,000 lives -including the life of 52 year old husband, father, son, uncle, nephew, friend, band-mate, and longtime Long Valley resident, Bob Warren.
'Rockin For Bob,' a live concert and silent auction event, will raise funds for Musicians On Call (MOC). The event will take place on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Randolph Performing Arts Center in the Music Den in Randolph, NJ (www.themusicden.com). The concert begins at 8 p.m.

The event is organized by Deb Ferrara, an accomplished Northern NJ songwriter whose husband, Bob Warren, passed away from prostate cancer on September 27, 2011. Deb has organized numerous concert events in the past, including several to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. She also founded, hosted, and produced the “NJ Songwriters In The Round” showcases at Maxwell's in Hoboken for many years. ‘Rockin For Bob’ is her way of honoring her late husband and helping an organization that touches patients lives directly. Deb will also perform during the concert.
"Musicians On Call (www.musiciansoncall.org) put such a huge smile on Bob's face when they visited him in the hospital,” said Ferrara. “Playing guitar was one of Bob's greatest passions and I'm so grateful he got to reconnect with it, something that might not have happened if it weren't for MOC. They were there at exactly the right time,” she continues. “This fundraiser will help MOC continue to bring something positive to patients and their families who may be experiencing some of their darkest days. Bob would definitely approve."
‘Rockin For Bob’ offers many ways to donate to MOC to help "Rock a Patients World." 100% of ticket sales will go directly to the organization. The $30 entrance fee includes a ticket to win a door prize, a program book, and refreshments including beer/wine and light food. Proceeds from the silent auction will go to MOC and finally, a special Rockin for Bob page has been set up on the MOC website (www.stayclassy.org/rockinforbob) for online donations.
Tickets will be available for sale starting 7/16 at the Music Den, at 1030 Route 10 West in Randolph NJ, Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday 12-5 p.m. Online tickets will not be available for this event.
