Morris County Has Among Most Speeding Tickets In NJ

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — If you feel like a lot of speeding tickets are issued in Morris County, you're not imagining it: Morris County had some of the highest numbers of tickets issued to drivers last year.

In 2017, Morris County police officers issued 10,650 tickets, the fourth highest of all the New Jersey counties, according to New Jersey State Police data reported by nj.com. Summonses were up from 2016, when 8,433 were issued. 2017 saw the most summonses issued in the past five years.

Middlesex County ranked the highest in the state, issuing 13,841 summonses to drivers. Sussex County ranked the lowest, with just 1,373 tickets in 2017.

The county is home to a number of busy highways, including the intersection of Routes 80 and 287. In addition to issuing plenty of tickets, the county is also home to a high number of accidents. Route 80 was named one of the most dangerous roads in the state in a report last year.
