Long Valley School's Water Test Results Explained

The school district is explaining exactly what the results show.

LONG VALLEY, NJ— Water testing in the Washington Township School system left some parents with questions, but school officials are clearing up any confusion.

The water testing was state mandated to check the levels of lead in all schools. There are two types of tests: standing, which tests water that's been sitting in the pipes, and flushed water, which is taken are the pipes are cleared out every day. (Washington Township Schools flush their pipes every day.)

All schools, except for Benedict A. Cucinella school were tested; that school will be tested later this month.

Out of 159 drinking or food preparation water sources, 141 were under lead action levels set by the State Environmental Protection Agency.

Water has been shut off to sources that tested above the limits.
