Man Flashed Gun At Bar After Being Told To Take A Cab: Police

The bar manager apparently suggested the man was too drunk to drive, and should take a cab.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A Budd Lake man is accused of flashing a gun at a bar manager after the manager suggested the man was too drunk to drive home, Mt. Olive police said.

Patrick J. Hanright, 34, of Budd Lake, was arrested Wednesday night after police say he threatened the manager of Kennedy's Pub.

Police said Hanright was standing outside with the manager, when the manager suggested Hanright was too drunk to drive and should take a cab home. Hanright allegedly took out a handgun and threatened the manager with it. The manager went back inside the bar and locked the doors; Hanright drove home.

Using the name on his credit card, police found Hanright parked in the driveway of his residence. He was removed from the car and arrested at gun point, police said. He was charged with possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, making terroristic threats, DWI and reckless driving.

He was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility with an upcoming court date.
