New School Resource Officers Hired For Washington Township District

The Washington Township Police Department has hired two new School Resource Officers to work in the Washington Township School District beginning in September. Next fall, the district will welcome Sgt. Robert Oranchak and PO Adam Feichter, both of whom have decades of experience in the township, are DARE certified and have direct connections to the schools.

Community Night Out Returns To Long Valley After 2 Years

Mark your calendars: Washington Township's Community Night Out will return this summer after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The annual fun evening event, now in its sixth year, is scheduled for July 19 at Rock Spring Park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is free to all residents.

Police Equipped With Updated Body Cameras In Washington Township

The introduction of body-worn cameras was announced earlier this spring by the Washington Township Police Department. L3 Mobile Vision body-worn cameras are now being worn by police officers throughout Washington Township, and they will function in concert with their existing in-car video systems.

Active Shooter Awareness Presentation Returns To Long Valley

In recognition of National Gun Awareness Day, the Washington Township Police Department will hold an active shooter awareness presentation at Police Headquarters. The presentation will be held at 1 East Springtown Road in Long Valley on Tuesday, June 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Lt. Chris Bratus will deliver the presentation, which will be similar to what they have done in the past and is a topic of extreme importance right now, according to police.

Morris Co. Man Assaulted 2 Teenagers, Prosecutors Say

A 22-year-old man was charged on Wednesday with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the alleged assault of two teenage victims, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. The Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll announced the filing of additional charges against Nathaniel G. Yanez, of Dover.
