Students Set for Stage in 'My Sister Eileen'

Despite schedule changes, Central cast forges on to create school production.

Neither rain nor wind nor closed school buildings can keep a cast of characters away from the stage this November.

For three days at the end of November and beginning of December, a group of students from West Morris Central High School will perform “My Sister Eileen” in the auditorium for friends, family and the general public.

The show, originally scheduled to run Nov. 15 through 17, was pushed back two weeks due to Hurricane Sandy’s impact on the school, which was closed for two full weeks.

“This 1950s show has a fun storyline that is still pertinent in the world today,” said Susan Thompson, one of the show’s producers. “Two naïve sisters; one an aspiring reporter, the other with dreams of becoming an actress, move from Ohio to New York City. This humorous show, similar to several of today’s sitcoms, experiences the many trials and tribulations two young women can encounter in the big city.”

Scheduled to hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1, tickets for the show are just $5.

The cast has also decided to aid those most affected by Hurricane Sandy, and will be donating $1 of each sold ticket to relief efforts, Thompson said.

You can’t keep a good cast down, and the students at West Morris Central will prove it on the stage.
