Virtual Gardening Programs Offered Through the Library
"Glorious Ground Covers" will be held on Thursday, June 4. "What's Eating My Vegetables & Plants" will be offered on July 14

LONG VALLEY - To help people stay connected and active from the safety of their home, Washington Township Public Library is now offering free online programs over Zoom, including two upcoming gardening lectures. On Thursday, June 4th at 7 p.m., join us for "Glorious Ground Covers: Gardeners' Best Friends." Ground covers are no longer limited to lawns and pachysandra. There is a plethora of choices from those that carpet the ground, to clumping plants & even small shrubs and hardscaping that can reduce labor intensive lawns, help to eliminate weeds, control erosion, add more color and year-round enjoyment to your landscape and even cut down on constant mulch replacement. Enjoy gardening more with ground covers. Detailed handouts will be provided to assist in selecting, planting and care of ground covers. This program, led by Gail Di Domenico, is provided through the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Morris County. Please register online so we can email you a link to attend.
An additional Master Gardener program, "What's Eating My Vegetables and Plants?," is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14th at 7 p.m. Get the most out of your garden and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Learn to identify the most common garden problems, how to deal with them and keep your vegetables and plants in good condition. Handouts will include information on Rutgers Fact Sheets. Led by Master Gardener Ilona Ontscherenki, this program is provided through the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Morris County. Please register online so we can email you a link to attend.
Additional online programs for kids, teens, and adults are listed on the library's online calendar.
