As communities near Madison have seen an increase in vehicle thefts over the last weeks, the Madison Police Department would like to remind all residents to be cautious when leaving their cars parked. When parking outside their homes, residents are advised to remove key fobs and personal items and to keep their vehicles locked.

Road Reconstruction Planned To Begin In Madison
The Borough of Madison's contractor, Cifelli and Sons Contracting, will begin work on the 2022 Road Reconstruction project on Howard Street and Norman Circle on Thursday, June 2. Among the improvements are road reconstruction, complete curbing, drainage, sidewalks, milling and paving. Officials estimate that the entire reconstruction project will take about 6 weeks.

90 Trees Planted Around Madison Borough
Trees play an important role in urban environments, providing shade during the summer heat, improving air quality and filtering and retaining stormwater. As part of the annual tree planting initiative, 90 trees are being planted throughout Madison this week. The plantings are intended to "help us add to our tree canopy, which helps in reducing summer peak temperatures and air pollution," according to borough officials.
$30K Awarded To Madison In Statewide Effort To Reduce Litter
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is strengthening statewide efforts to remove litter, beautify neighborhoods and improve water quality by awarding $21.4 million in Clean Communities grants this year. Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette announced this week that the total amount given is an approximate $700,000 increase over the disbursement in 2021.
$1.9M Given To Morris County For Affordable Housing Projects
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is awarding $177 million in grants to New Jersey for Community Planning and Development activities, with Morris County receiving a sizable portion. The county will receive approximately $1.9 million from the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), according to the announcement.
