Musician To Read Joyce Kilmer Poem At Event Honoring The 'Trees' Author

Al DiGiacomo will read Joyce Kilmer's poem "The House With Nobody In It," at the fifth annual Joyce Kilmer Day Sunday​.

OAKLAND, N.J. — Oakland songwriter Al DiGiacomo will read Joyce Kilmer's poem "The House With Nobody In It," at the fifth annual Joyce Kilmer Day Sunday.

DiGiacomo was a member of the Sixteen String Band and other local musical ensembles popular in the metropolitan area.

Joyce Kilmer Day will feature a slideshow telling the true story behind "The House With Nobody In It." Kilmer wrote that and the poem he is best known for, "Trees," in the house when he lived in Mahwah. Kilmer was killed in action in France during World War I. He was named one of 10 Bergen County Legends in 2014 by the county historical society.

Joyce Kilmer Day will be observed at Boiling Springs Savings Bank, 4 East Ramapo Ave. at 2 p.m.
