Investigation Into Fatal Manasquan Boating Accident Continues

Authorities continue to investigate a fatal boating accident that happened Friday afternoon in the Manasquan Inlet.
Here is what we know so far:
- The accident was reported around 1:30 p.m. in the Manasquan Inlet in Manasquan Borough.
- Seven people were aboard the pontoon boat that capsized.
- Authorities say a large swell caused the boat to tip.
- All seven men went overboard.
- Several good Samaritans jumped to action when they saw the boat flip, including Greg and Lisa Coakley. According to an Asbury Park Press report, the couple threw the men life vests, called the Coast Guard and attempted CPR.
- The victims were located through a search and rescue operation involving NJSP Marine Services Bureau, NJSP Aviation, U.S. Coast Guard, and NYPD.
- The Coast Guard responded within five minutes, according to the Asbury Park Press.
- All victims were recovered.
- Two victims died, four were transported to Ocean Medical Center and one person refused medical treatment.
- The deceased have been identified as Alex Osadchy, 66, and Grigory Klokishner, 74, both of Philadelphia.
- Osadchy was pronounced deceased on location. Klokishner was flown to Jersey Shore Hospital in Neptune where he was later pronounced dead.
- Authorities did not say whether the men were wearing life vests at the time.
- The capsized boat floated for hours after the accident about half mile off the beach north of Manasquan Inlet, reports say. It was towed in around sunset.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
