NJ Transit Police Identify Victim Found Dead By Train Tracks

The 62-year-old resident was found near couplers at Trenton Avenue Tuesday morning.

NJ Transit police have released the name of the borough man found dead near the train tracks on Route 35 northbound and Trenton Avenue on Tuesday morning.

The man - who had head injuries - was identified as James Lange, 62, Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, said spokesperson William J. Smith today.

No further details about the incident have been released.

Lange’s body was discovered near a coupling area. Point Pleasant Beach police received a 911 call at 8:29 a.m. on Tuesday about a possible first aid call. When police responded, they realized the man was dead, Point Beach Detective Clint Daniel has said.

New Jersey Transit police is the lead agency in the investigation.

Smith said in a statement yesterday that it had not been determined if the man was struck by a NJ Transit train or sustained injuries in another manner.

The North Jersey Coast Line - Bay Head rail service was temporarily suspended at Bay Head, Point Pleasant and Manasquan stations in both directions on Tuesday, until a substitute bus service was established. Normal rail service was restored at 11:15 a.m.
