New Details Emerge, Victims ID'd After 5 Fatal NJ Crashes, 9 Dead

A triple-fatal crash and two double-fatal accidents happened since Friday. Two people were killed in crashes on Monday morning.

New details have emerged after a horrible four days in New Jersey that left 9 dead following two double-fatal crashes and one triple fatal crash.

Two other fatal crashes happened on Monday morning, one closing Routes 1&9 near Newark Liberty International Airport.

One person was killed in the single-vehicle crash that occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Routes 1&9 southbound near McClellan Street. Police and the Essex County Medical Examiner's Office remained on the scene early Monday.

Pennsville triple-fatal

Police have identified three people who were killed in a head-on triple-fatal crash in South Jersey over the weekend.

Norma Craft, 74, of Carneys Point has been identified as the driver of a Ford Focus that was involved in the crash near South Hook Road and Winslow Lane in Pennsville on Friday night, Pennsville police said. Read more here...

Galloway Township, double fatal on Garden State Parkway

One of the two people killed in a Garden State Parkway crash on Sunday has been identified.

The two killed included the driver, who remains unidentified, and the front passenger, Tyleek Jones, 20, of Atlantic City, police said. Two people in the rear of the car, Adam Jones, 19, of Galloway and Danie Pettus, 20, of Atlantic City, were seriously injured, police said.

The 3 a.m. crash on the Garden State Parkway southbound lanes in Galloway Township happened near milepost 42.1, police said.

A Nissan Sentra veered off the parkway, struck several trees and caught fire, police said. The unidentified driver and Tyleek Jones were pronounced dead after the crash.

Two others, Adam Jones and Danie Pettus, who were backseat passengers of the Nissan, were seriously injured.

Both were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, and then Pettus was later flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment of his serious injuries, police said.

Colts Neck, double-fatal on Route 18

Two people who were killed when a tanker truck overturned on Route 18 in Colts Neck on Saturday have been identified.

The driver, Maurice Boatwright, 37 of Westfield, and the passenger, Julio Escoto-Sandoval, 21 of Perth Amboy, were both ejected from the cab of the truck as it overturned. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The crash happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. when the Colts Neck Police were called to the scene of an overturned tanker truck near mile marker 22 on the northbound side of Route 18. The vehicle was traveling north at the time of the crash and no other vehicles were involved, police said.

The tanker truck belonging to KW Rastall, Inc. of North Brunswick overturned, causing the tank to separate from the vehicle and spill approximately 1,400 gallons of diesel fuel oil into the shoulder of the highway.

Monmouth County HazMat and NJDEP responded to the scene to contain and later coordinate the clean-up of the spill.

Northbound traffic was detoured off at Route 34 from approximately 5:30pm until midnight.

The crash is still under investigation and the Colts Neck Police are asking if anyone witnessed the crash, to contact Patrolman Morgan Savage at 732-780-7323.
