$239 Fine for Shuttle Driver in Fatal Farm Crash That Killed Toddler

Neil McWilliams pleaded guilty to careless driving ticket, report says.

A municipal court judge in Hanover levied a $239 fine against Neil McWilliams this week, nearly nine months after the man’s shuttle bus struck and killed a two-year-old girl.

McWilliams pleaded guilty Monday to a careless driving ticket he was issued by Chester Township police in October 2014, nj.com reported. The impetus of the ticket was a crash at Alstede Farms in October 2014 that crushed Elizabeth “Ella” Fuehring, 2, between two shuttle buses on the business’s property.

A months-long investigation between local and county authorities showed there was no criminal wrongdoing on McWilliams’ part, deeming the incident an accident.

Fuehring, her mother, Sarah, and a family friend, Joanna Alemany, were walking between the vehicles when one rolled into another. As a result, Ella Fuehring was crushed and died from her injuries; Sarah Fuehring suffered a broken femur; and Alemany suffered a broken pelvis.

In addition to the fine, McWilliams may face a loss of his driver’s license, the report said. That ruling would come from the Motor Vehicle Commission if and when it holds a fatal accident hearing, the report said.
