Adelberg is a historian of the American Revolution in Monmouth County, and his research and writings have done much to uncover Middletown's important role in the conflict. For over 30 years, Adelberg has published books and essays, and he recently served as a consultant on the Middletown At War exhibit in the Middletown Historical Society's new Middletown History Museum, located at the train station.

The Legacy of Service award will be accepted by the family of the late James Hinckley. Hinckley was a past president of the Middletown Township Historical Society, and he displayed an extraordinary commitment to volunteerism in Middletown and beyond.
