9 Cases of Rabies in Middletown So Far This Year
The rabid cat found Friday off Rt. 35 is the ninth case of rabies in the township in 2015, according to the Health Department.

The cat that tested positive for rabies on Friday is hardly the first case of rabies to strike Middletown Township this year.
So far in 2015, 5 raccoons, 2 skunks and 1 fox found in Middletown have all tested positive for rabies, according to the township health department.
The cat, however, is the first non-wildlife animal that has tested positive for the virus.

Middletown Township officials are reminding everyone to keep your pets and children safe from rabies. Do not interact with wildlife or stray animals. If you come across a sick or injured animal, keep your distance and please contact Animal Control. Please make sure all domestic animals (dogs, cats, and livestock) are currently vaccinated with a rabies shot. Do not let your pets run free off leash, even in the woods.
