Atlantic Highlands Sandwich Shop That Used Pickles, Not Bread, Closes
Peace Love Pickles is permanently closing their Atlantic Highlands sandwich shop, only open for a year:

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — Peace Love Pickles announced this week they are permanently closing their location in Atlantic Highlands.
"Due to the rising costs of foods and the uncertain economic times that we are all enduring, Peace Love Pickles Atlantic Highlands has closed our doors for business," Peace Love Pickles wrote on their website Monday of this week. "We met some wonderful new friends and have enjoyed sharing in the spirit of a beautiful community. We will be back to frequent the local businesses that we have come to know and love. Until we meet again, we wish you Peace, Love and Prosperity. Thank you for your kindness."
Peace Love Pickles was only open for a year, having opened last summer in the former Bellissimo salon at 131 First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands. Patch wrote about them when they first opened, with photos of how their sandwiches looked.

The business started as Elsie's pickle sandwich shop in Haddon Township in South Jersey, and they became popular for serving their sandwiches entirely on pickles instead of bread. The small business garnered viral Internet fame and in 2021 they started offering franchises. Joe and Elizabeth LoMonaco of Monmouth County were the franchise owners of the Atlantic Highlands location, according to the Asbury Park Press.
The original South Jersey location is still open.
