Dryer Causes Home Fire in North Middletown Saturday
This was the scene on Bayside Parkway in the North Middletown section Saturday morning around 11:45 a.m.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — An overheated dryer caused this fire Saturday at a home in the North Middletown section of the Township.
The Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to a “dryer fire” at a home on Bayside Parkway in the North Middletown section at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, November 11. This home is actually two adjoining structures with a common foundation (crawlspace). The initial fire had dropped into the common area of the crawlspace and to access the fire, firefighters had to cut the foundation to enter the crawlspace to extinguish the blaze. Dryers are a common cause of home fires.
First Assistant Chief Steven Schweizer needed to call back-up units and the fire was considered under control at 1:20 p.m. All units were cleared from the scene by 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

Approximately 60 members from six companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call from Belford Engine, Community, East Keansburg, Port Monmouth, Belford Independent and River Plaza fire companies. The MTFD Air Unit filled over 70 breathing air cylinders. Mutual aid was provided by the Keansburg Fire Department.
Middletown EMS support was provided by Middletown, Fairview and Keansburg First Aid Squads. The fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Marshall’s office.
