FilmOneFest: Not Just Movies

The flourishing arts scene in Atlantic Highlands is evident at FilmOneFest on Saturday, July 19.  As Kül d'Sack performs, festival goers enjoy browsing the offerings of local artists and arts-related businesses from 7 pm - 9 pm, with movies to follow after dark.

Gina Cioffi and Hannah O'Connor will present a photo/storytelling booth, an interactive community art project, with festival goers invited to contribute to an evolving narrative. Artist Mike Quon will show and sell his whimsical depictions of favorite local places and everyday objects, and sign limited edition copies of his FilmOneFest 2014 poster.  

Freedom Pottery on 1st Ave. will have potter's wheels for those wishing to try their hand at throwing.  Cloud Kissed Kids on 1st Ave., a children's shop and studio, will demonstrate handcrafts, while Bryan Flanagan of Memorial Parkway's Under My Skin Tattoo Studio presents tattoo-style art. Puppets and their masters from the Paper Moon Puppet Theatre will perform, and jeweler John McAllister will share his secrets for creating unique copper jewelry.  Shari Zolla will blow her magical bubbles and Brenda Atlast will pen elegant calligraphy.

Sea Ginny's Beach Jewelry of Center Ave. will have a booth, as well as Sea Sons, Jacqui Hillman's new photography gallery and shop on 1st Ave. 

Hometown photographers Bethany Bearmore and Jeff Smith, and Andy Wolff, Cheryl Auditor, and Lynne Hollingsworth will exhibit and sell, as will jewelers Anne Milling, Renate English, Jenny Woods, and Angie Soffronas.  Also at FilmOneFest will be artist Joy Lessposh, potter Drew Brown of Great Bowls Afire, fiber artist Laura Bibb, and Christine Kangos and Chris Dale of Creative Moments.

FilmOneFest, now in its sixth year, is Atlantic Highlands' celebration of the short-short film.  The free festival takes place at the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor from 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm; with jury-selected films shown on a giant out-door screen beginning around 9:00 pm.
