Makers' Day March 21 At Middletown Library: Free Activities For Kids And Adults

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The Middletown Public Library will host "NJ Makers Day: Technology Through the Ages" from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the library (55 New Monmouth Road).
From Colonial crafts to WWII-era spy codes, attendees of all ages will explore how innovation has shaped American life over 250 years. The day will feature more than a dozen hands-on activities, live demonstrations and educational experiences spread throughout the library.
Highlights include a traveling blacksmith demonstration, butter churning with the James Murray Farmhouse, quill pen signing in the style of John Hancock and a live Reaction Lab lightbulb demonstration. Visitors can try their hand at Colonial trades like block printing, paper quilling, wax seals and candle making, or test their wits with spy codes and Morse code activities led by Code Ninjas.

The Children's Room will be buzzing with activity, featuring 250th STEM activities from Allied Health and Science High School alongside classic Colonial toy-making — tri-cornhats, yarn dolls, whirligigs and ball-and-cup games — as well as colonial hornbook-making.
Adults can explore the fiber arts in the Makerspace with embroidery and knitting and admire the work of Rebecca's Reel Poricy Park Quilters.
