Middletown Church Holds Special 'Blue Christmas' Service Thursday

Everyone in the Middletown community and beyond is invited to gather and acknowledge the emotional struggles the holiday season may bring.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Feeling lonely, confused, sad? The holidays can be a time of joy, but also sadness, grief and feelings of loneliness — often made worse by short days and long, dark nights this time of year.

That is exactly why the Lincroft Presbyterian Church of Middletown will hold a Blue Christmas service this Thursday at their church on Everett Road.

Everyone in the Middletown community and beyond is invited to gather and acknowledge the emotional struggles the holiday season may bring.

The service will be held at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, December 16 at the church at 270 Everett Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738 and online: https://bit.ly/LPC-Zoom.

“With music, scripture and reflection, we can find that needed space and time to acknowledge our sadness and concern; we need to know that we are not alone,” says Pastor Diane Ford, reverend at the Lincroft Presbyterian Church.

“This evening brings us together to acknowledge our fears and anxieties, as well as provide a place for hope and healing and to see that God’s light always shines even in the darkness.”

A November 2021 Harris Poll Survey found that “36% of Americans don’t feel like celebrating the holidays this year due to feelings of grief and loss," something that may be exacerbated by the worldwide pandemic.
