Middletown-Lincroft Road To Re-Open By Jan. 22, County Says

Middletown-Lincroft Road is expected to open again to traffic by Jan. 22, weather permitting, Monmouth County announced Thursday.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Middletown-Lincroft Road, over Comptons Creek, is expected to open to traffic by Jan. 22, weather permitting, Monmouth County announced Thursday.

The frequently traveled road — a main thoroughfare in that part of Monmouth County — has been closed since early November. It had to be shut down so repairs could be made to the Garden State Parkway bridge that runs over the road. The bridge was damaged when it was struck by a flatbed truck in November, and the structural integrity of the bridge was seriously compromised.

“Due to deterioration of the bridge deck, necessary repairs must be performed,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “The goal is to improve the overall safety of the traveling public in the area.”

Middletown-Lincroft Road will be open to local traffic only between Bamm Hollow Road and Castle Drive. All other motorists should follow the posted detours.

“Motorists should expect travel delays in the area throughout the bridge project,” said Arnone. “We appreciate everyone’s patience during the duration of this necessary project.”
