Monmouth County Cases Skyrocket, From 98 To 156 Over Weekend

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Officials warned that as testing increases, cases of coronavirus will increase. And they are, as Monmouth County rose from 98 positive cases Saturday to 156 Sunday.

Monmouth County Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone and Freeholder Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley have announced that, as of March 22, there are 156 positive cases of COVID-19 in Monmouth County.

Patch asked, but the county will not release the number of those who have gotten COVID-19, but recovered.

"Our current focus is tracking those that are ill so that we can assure that the proper care and precautions are being implemented," said a Monmouth County media spokeswoman. "Recovery is extremely important, but we are still in response and mitigation modes."

The Freeholders also announced that, due to the Governor’s Executive Order, all Monmouth County golf courses have been closed. Monmouth County open park spaces remain open.
