Serious Middletown Crash Saturday On Hwy. 36

A child suffered minor injuries and an adult had to be taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — An adult was seriously injured and a child suffered minor injuries Saturday when a pickup truck flipped over in a three-car accident Saturday on Route 36. The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 36 and Avenue D in the Leonardo section of Middletown at approximately 5:38 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The crash closed Highway 36 in both directions for several hours Saturday evening, tying up traffic for miles.

An adult driver from the sedan was the most seriously injured, and he was transported via MONOC helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, according to Middletown police. His injuries were non-life threatening, however. Middletown First Aid & Rescue transported him to the baseball field across from Bayshore School for the medivac chopper to pick him up.

A juvenile passenger in the pickup truck was transported by Leonardo First Aid & Rescue to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank with minor injuries.
