Volunteer Middletown Firefighter, Robert Weber, Dies Of COVID-19

Robert Weber was a 15-year veteran member of the Port Monmouth Fire Company. He died of coronavirus complications this week.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A 15-year veteran of the Middletown Fire Department died of complications from the coronavirus/COVID-19.

The man is Robert Weber and his death was announced by both Gov. Phil Murphy and the Middletown police department, as well as the Monmouth County Sheriff. He died this week.

"Weber was a 15-year veteran firefighter with the Port Monmouth Fire Company. He served as a member of both the Middletown First Aid and Rescue Squad and the Middletown Fire Department's Air Unit. We will not forget him and his service," said Gov. Murphy in his daily tribute.

Every day of the pandemic, the governor highlights those who have died.

"Mr. Weber was an integral part of our community" who was "taken way too soon," said the Middletown police department in a Facebook post.

This was a man who dedicated years of his life to volunteering to make his community better. There was a parade of first responders Thursday night that started at the Port Monmouth fire house in his honor.
