Watch The Sept. 13 Middletown Planning Board Meeting
There were 2 items of business: Village 35 (the proposed Wegman's in Middletown) and what to build on the former Steak and Ale property.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Provided by Middletown resident Don Watson, here is video of the most recent Middletown Planning Board meeting, held last Wednesday, Sept. 13. There were two items of business that were heard: Village 35 and the Steak & Ale property:
The Village 35 project (the controversial shopping complex that will include a Wegman's) was back on the agenda, but the Board and the developer could not agree on the direction that testimony would go. The Board finally voted not to proceed with the direction the developer wanted to go in, according to Watson. A decision as to when the hearing would continue took another long period of time, after hearing the lamentations of the Board members about having to be subjected to the amount of testimony that would be in front of them. There are some people in Middletown who are opposed to the Village 35 project and wanted to voice their complaints before the Planning Board last Wednesday.
The hearing ended around 1:18 minutes into the video. The remaining portion of the video had the developer of the former Steak & Ale property finish up their testimony for the project to construct a day care, a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru, a Mavis tire center and other retail space that they received approval for. This hearing began at 1:33 of the video, which was after a 15-minute break between each hearing.
