Council To Vote On Water Plant Upgrades At Special Meeting

Moorestown Council will also vote on appointing a new planning board member at Friday's meeting.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - Moorestown Council will hold a special meeting before the end of the year to appoint members to the planning board and award two contracts for water treatment plant upgrades.

The meeting will take place on Friday morning, Dec. 28, 8 a.m. at town hall, 111 West Second Street, the township announced on Friday.

One contract will be awarded to Pennsylvania-based Thomas P. Carney Inc. for upgrades at the North Church Street Water Treatment Plant. The contract is for $18,240,620. The township received four bids for the work, and Carney submitted the low bid.

The other contract will be awarded to Madison, New Jersey based MBE III Electrical Inc. for upgrades at the Hartford Road Water Treatment Plant. This contract is for $11,286,777. The township also received four bids for this work, and MBE III submitted the low bid.

With Julie LaVan leaving the planning board, council is set to name alternate Douglas Maute as her replacement.

Council will take comments from the public before it votes on the three resolutions, and official action will be taken.
