Final Budget Workshop In Moorestown Set For May 15

Moorestown Council has announced additional special meetings for the month of May to discuss the budget and affordable housing.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - Moorestown Council will continue to discuss the budget in public and hold closed session meetings to discuss affordable housing in May, the township announced.

Council will discuss the proposed 2019 budget during a workshop in council chambers at town hall on Wednesday night, May 15, 7 p.m. Formal action may be taken. The meeting is open to the public.

It was scheduled for Wednesday, May 1, with the hope of introducing the proposed budget to the public at the regular council meeting scheduled for May 6.

However, the date and time was changed during the council meeting on Monday night, April 29, to accommodate the schedules for all council members.

The proposed budget will now likely be introduced to the public at the regular council meeting scheduled for May 20.

On Monday morning, the township announced the following closed session meetings for council to discuss affordable housing:

  • Monday, May 6, 8:30 a.m. in the donut room at town hall;
  • Monday, May 13, 8:30 a.m. in the donut room at town hall; and
  • Monday, May 20, 8:30 a.m. in the donut room at town hall.

Council was scheduled to discuss affordable housing and collective bargaining at a closed session meeting Monday morning, April 29. Including that meeting, council has discussed affordable housing in closed session five times. The discussions are held in private due to attorney-client privilege, according to the announcements issued by the township.
