Moorestown Council To Introduce Budget Monday Night
Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at town hall. The workshop meeting precedes the regular meeting at 7 p.m.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown is ready introduce its budget. The township’s budget, which includes a $24,354,000 current fund budget and an $11,085,000 utility budget, will be introduced when Moorestown Council meets on Monday night, June 12, 7:30 p.m. at town hall. The public hearing and final vote on the budget will be set for July 10.
The meeting is preceded by the workshop meeting at 7 p.m. Town hall is located at 111 West Second Street.
Council will also establish the tax levy for the township’s Open Space, Recreation and Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Program, which was established and approved through a voter referendum in 1998. Council will also consider the annual proposed ordinance on introduction to exceed the municipal budget appropriation limits and establish a cap bank. Council will be asked to allow a 3.5 percent increase over last year’s final appropriations, which amounts to an additional $497,852.52. The proposal is typical of all municipalities during the budget process, and provides a safety net for municipalities, if needed.

The budget is not the only thing that will be on the agenda Monday night.
Council will consider a proposed ordinance on introduction to appropriate $850,000, including the borrowing of $415,150 in bonds or notes for the resurfacing of Borton’s Landing Road.

Council will also be asked to consider amendments to township ordinance concerning certain water and sewer rates.
Two bond ordinances are on the agenda for second reading.
The first proposes the appropriation of $225,000, including borrowing $213,750 in bonds or notes, for improvements to recreation facilities.
The second proposes appropriating an additional $50,000, including the borrowing of $47,500 in bonds or notes for the reconstruction of a hockey rink at Wesley Bishop Park.
There are also four items on the consent agenda, including a resolution authorizing the the removal, purchase and installation of fencing at Walter Maahs Fields and Wesley Bishop Park Turf Fields under state contract in the amount of $50,803.75.
