Moorestown Physician To Announce Assembly Candidacy Next Week
Dr. Jennifer Hinlu Chuang will introduce her platform to residents at the Community House on April 4.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown resident Dr. Jennifer Hinlu Chuang will officially announce her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the New Jersey State Assembly 7th Legislative District on Tuesday, April 4, 6 p.m. at the Moorestown Community House, 16 East Main Street.
Chuang will discuss her platform issues and introduce to the public her background as a mother, a healthcare provider, and as a community advocate, Chuang said in a statement issued Monday night.
- The importance of vaccinations
- The value of scientific research
- The need for accessible and affordable health care coverage for New Jersey residents
- Protecting comprehensive reproductive rights and healthcare for New Jersey residents, including access to safe abortion care
- Reducing gun violence in New Jersey, especially protecting children and victims of domestic violence
- The need to support public school education for New Jersey children
- Ensuring the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender residents in New Jersey
Chuang is a Taiwanese-American who was born and raised in Moorestown. She graduated from Moorestown High School in 1995.

Primary Day in New Jersey is June 6. Current Assemblyman Troy Singleton is running for the State Senate seat Diane Allen is vacating at the end of the year. The Democrats have endorsed incumbent Herb Conaway and newcomer Carol Murphy in the race for the two Assembly seats.
Chuang received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in anthropology. After graduating from college, Chuang worked as an HIV tester and counselor at the Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia before entering Temple University School of Medicine.

She was a national leader in Medical Students For Choice, working to ensure that comprehensive reproductive health training was included in medical school curricula and residency programs throughout the country.
She did her residency in combined internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers) in Newark.
Chuang decided to sub-specialize in adolescent medicine and completed her fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center, where she also received a Masters of Science from the Mailman School of Public Health.
Chuang is currently an attending physician in Adolescent Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
She is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, and adolescent medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Physicians, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, and the Society of General Internal Medicine.
Chuang has been recognized by her peers for excellence in teaching, and she was the first recipient of the Emerging Leader in Adolescent Medicine Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics. She lives in Moorestown with her spouse, Lakshman Nathan, and their two young children, ages 6 and 2.
