Public Hearing on Moorestown Budget Set for Monday Night
The proposed $23.9 million budget includes tax cuts.

Moorestown, NJ -- The public hearing and final vote on the proposed $23.9 million budget that includes tax cuts will take place at Monday night’s Moorestown Council meeting, 7 p.m. at town hall.
The owner of the average home assessed at $441,700 would pay $1,810.97 in taxes this year, according to Chief Financial Officer Tom Merchel. The municipal portion is $1,638.71, a decrease of $8.83 from last year. The library portion remains steady at $172.26.
Council will also consider two proposed ordinances on second reading.

The first calls for the appropriation of $1 million to be used for the total reconstruction of the Second Street municipal parking lot, which includes new curbing, piping, tree removal and any other details related to the complete reconstruction of the parking lot.
The second calls for the appropriation of $150,000 to be used for the reconstruction of the hockey rink at Wesley Bishop Park. As part of that project, the dasher boards that are removed from that hockey rink will be repurposed for the hockey rink at Jeff Young Park.

Ricky Slade Construction, out of Bridgeton, submitted the lowest bid for each project, including $970,000 to do the parking lot, and $341,000 for the hockey rink.
The township received a $250,000 grant to put toward work on the hockey rink project, and the Moorestown Youth Hockey Association (MYSHA) promised to put $80,000 toward the project.
