South Jersey Woman Accused Of Beating Husband To Death With Fire Extinguisher Indicted

Laciana Tinsley claims she beat her husband to death with a fire extinguisher in self defense.

A South Jersey woman accused of beating her husband to death with a fire extinguisher has been indicted for murder, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said on Friday. Laciana Tinsley, 42, of Willingboro, was also indicted by a Burlington County Grand Jury on one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. She is accused of repeatedly striking her husband, 74-year-old Douglas Tinsley in the head with the fire extinguisher inside their home on the first block of Hancock Lane on Jan. 30.

Douglas Tinsley was pronounced dead at the scene at about 12:30 p.m. that day. Laciana Tinsley was arrested at the house and charged later that day.

She and her husband were alone at the time of the incident, and she claimed she was acting in self-defense.
Following her arrest, she was ordered detained and is being housed in the Atlantic County Jail.

An autopsy performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood determined the cause of death was blunt head trauma.
