Spending on Moorestown Water Treatment Plant Work on Agenda for Monday Night

Moorestown Council meets at town hall, 7 p.m.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown Council will consider a pair of proposed ordinances on introduction concerning the treatment of the water at the North Church Street Water Treatment Plant when it meets at town hall on Monday night, 7 p.m.

The first proposed ordinance calls for the appropriation of $380,000 and the borrowing of $361,000 for the purchase of equipment for the temporary treatment at the water treatment plant.

The second proposed ordinance calls for the appropriation of $825,000 and the borrowing of $783,750 for preliminary engineer and design expenses for upgrades related to the permanent treatment at the water treatment plant.

The goal is to eliminate the presence of Trichloropropane (TCP 1, 2, 3), Trichlorethylene (TCE) and radiological elements in the water. The temporary treatment is designed to eliminate TCP 1,2,3 and TCE while the township finds a permanent solution for all issues with the water.

Council will also consider a proposed ordinance on introduction to appropriate an additional $1 million for reconstruction of the municipal parking lot.

It will also consider a proposed ordinance on introduction to appropriate an additional $150,000 for the reconstruction of a hockey rink at Wesley Bishop Park.

There will be a public hearing and final vote on the annual proposed ordinance to exceed municipal budget appropriation limits and establish a cap bank. The ordinance always accompanies introduction of the municipal budget. The public hearing and final vote for the $23.9 million budget will take place on May 23.
