Timoney Knox Paralegal to Retire after Nearly 46 Years

When Patricia A. Porter joined Fort Washington-based Timoney Knox, LLP in 1971, she was recently married and living in Delran, N.J.

Throughout her almost 46-year career with the law firm, Porter, who has continued to make the 90-minute commute from her New Jersey home, has become known as the go-to paralegal for all matters related to tax return preparation and estate administration.

On April 29, Porter, the firm’s longest-tenured paralegal, will retire. Her Timoney Knox colleagues, in reflecting on her consistency, dependability and hard work during a career spanning nearly five decades, described Porter as exceptional.

Timoney Knox managing partner, George Riter, said that Porter embodies the qualities that several of the firm’s employees possess.

“Pat believes and lives with a purpose and a dedication that helps improve everyone around her, and these qualities are palpable,” Riter said. “When clients are told that she is retiring after 45 plus years with the firm, they ask, ‘who can I call now for my taxes, or about a trust or some project she has handled?’ However, our loss is a gain for Pat’s husband, Jim, their five children and four grandchildren. We all wish her the very best!”

Michael O’Hara Peale, who heads the firm’s corporate and tax practice, said that Porter has never turned down a request when someone has asked for help.

“If a picture could be painted of a welcoming personality, a conscientious person and someone who is in constant motion, it would be Pat,” O’Hara Peale said. “Pat is a person who not only says she will help with a project, but makes sure the project is successfully completed.”
