Wesley Bishop Park Change Order To Be Considered During Special Meeting In Moorestown

The item is on the agenda for Thursday morning's special meeting.

Moorestown, NJ -- A change order to allow Moorestown to exceed 20 percent of the original contract for improvements at Wesley Bishop Park Hockey Rink #1 is on the agenda for Thursday morning’s special meeting at town hall.

It is one of two items on the agenda for the meeting, scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.

The other item calls for the awarding of a contract for a new dump truck for the Department of Public Works. The truck would be equipped with a snow plow and a spreader.

One of the department's trucks was damaged during a recent fire, and the township must replace it. With one truck already out of commission, the department's fleet is reduced from five trucks to three as winter approaches.

Bids for the truck will be unsealed on Dec. 21, according to Chief Financial Officer Tom Merchel. He said that by approving the bid the following day, the truck might be available by January as opposed to February.

The resolution for Wesley Bishop Park is needed to allow the township to pay for for certain features that were left out of the initial project plans, including $25,000 for a gate, $80,000 for a shelter and some electrical work.

A separate resolution allowing the township to borrow money from the Moorestown Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund for the improvements was approved during the Dec. 12 council meeting. The township can’t exceed $125,000 to pay for the project.
