VIDEO: High School, College Bands Turn Up the Volume at School of Rock
ACM Records of Fair Lawn hosts Battle of the Bands finals in South Hackensack where NMHS band Skyline competed but did not take top prize
About 100 high school and college bands competed in the over the last few months. Funds raised through the Fair Lawn-based record company's initiative go to support high school and college music programs.
Additionally, the top bands won prizes, a recording deal, marketing and other professional services. Something Else (Wallkill Senior High School) won the high school division, the Creeptones (Toms River East High School, Rowan University) paced the college division, and Studio 19 (Ridgefield Park Junior-Senior High School, Leonia High School) earned honorable mention for selling the most tickets and raising the most sponsorship funds.
A few hundred people crowded The School of Rock in South Hackensack for Friday night's finals, hosted by ACM Records Hip Hop artist B-Mood.

The bands were judged on a number of criteria by a panel including New York Entertainment Attorney Richard M. Blank; his daughter, Warner Record executive Juliette Blank; WSOU's Gesina Phillips; Mark Salamone of Barbershop Studios; Mike Barron, a BMI executive; and industry professionals Elizabeth Pavlowsky, Chris Duquette and Mark Mignone.
