Latest Ocean City Coronavirus Updates

Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Ocean City.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — There's a lot of news to keep up with right now — locally, nationally and worldwide. Here's a recap of coronavirus updates in Ocean City and Cape May County.

Cases

The Cape May County Health Department has reported 12 cases in Ocean City as of Wednesday afternoon, including two patients cleared off quarantine.

The County has counted 187 positive cases, including 17 cleared off quarantine and 10 deaths. Eight residents in Victoria Manor, a North Cape May nursing home, have died from the virus. MORE.

Cases by gender: 104 female, 83 male.

Cases by age group:

  • ages 0-17: 4
  • 18-40: 45
  • 41-65: 77
  • over 65: 51

Testing

Cape Regional Urgent Care told Patch on Friday it will now test anyone for the coronavirus, including people without symptoms. They have locations in Marmora, Wildwood and Cape May Court House. MORE.

The County also has a drive-thru testing center. To make an appointment, visit CompleteCareNJ.org/COVID19 or call 609-465-0258 and request to be screened. The test will be free, and no co-pay is required for screening. MORE.

Schools

Restrictions and Updates

  • Monday's storm brought damage to several properties in the area. Despite the concern, Congressman Jeff Van Drew urges out-of-town home owners to stay at their primary residences. His office offered to take exterior pictures of homes to help assess damage. MORE.

With barber shops closed, Ocean City Police Chief Jay Prettyman tried giving himself a haircut. Prettyman sent a note to Gas Up Barbershop & Shave Co. in Somers Point and paid for the haircut he would've received there.
