5 Charged Following Pursuit Of Vehicle After Alleged NYC Assault: Sheriff

A .357 Magnum and knives were in the vehicle, police said. A Bergen County sheriff's officer stopped the vehicle on Route 17 in Paramus.

PARAMUS, N.J. — Five men were charged after police stopped a vehicle early Tuesday morning wanted in connection with an alleged assault that occurred in New York City, said Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino.

A witness called 911 at 3:30 a.m. regarding an assault that occurred in New York City and that they were following the vehicle, a white Mercedes Benz into New Jersey, Saudino said.

A description of the vehicle was broadcast to police statewide and Bergen County Sheriff Officer Kevin Scarpa saw the vehicle on Route 17 northbound and stopped it at Linwood Avenue, the sheriff said.

Paramus and Ridgewood police officers responded to the scene. Authorities searched the vehicle and found a .357-caliber Magnum handgun, knives, and marijuana inside, Saudino said.

Five men were arrested and charged with possession of weapons and possession of a controlled dangerous substance:

  • Bradley R. Lauture, 19

Antoine, Boursiquot, and Lauture are from Spring Valley, New York. Pierre is from Haverstrawn, New York and Dorvil is from Garnerville, New York.

Bail for each defendant was set at $10,000 with no 10 percent option, Saudino said.
