Spa Destroyed In Parsippany Fire, Family Seeks Help Rebuilding

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Beauty City Salon & Spa made significant strides as a business since opening a decade ago in Parsippany. Ownership woke up Tuesday to find everything gone.

A large fire tore through businesses overnight at the Green Hill Plaza, a strip mall on Parsippany Road. Firefighters arrived just after midnight and worked through the morning to extinguish the blaze, which left several businesses damaged. Beauty City Salon & Spa was one of them. Ownership created a GoFundMe for help with the rebuild.

The family who runs the spa opened the business in 2012 "with almost nothing," according to owner Mia Lin.

"Slowly, we were able to save up money to buy better machines and provide better services for our customers," Lin wrote on the fundraising page. "Finally, in 2021, we purchased the store - it was like a dream come true!"

But Lin woke up Tuesday to find the salon surrounded by caution tape, with stores pitch-black. After they prepared to start the year fresh, the family dream burnt to ashes.

The GoFundMe has raised about $2,000 as of Thursday morning. The aftermath of the fire will keep Beauty City Salon & Spa closed until further notice, according to the business's website.

Agencies from throughout Parsippany and Morris County worked to extinguish the three-alarm blaze. One firefighter was taken to the Morristown Medical Center and was in stable condition, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
