Some storms were even deadly; one person was killed by a power line that fell during one of the many nor'easters that passed through New Jersey this year.

The year began with something called a "bomb cyclone" that left at least a foot of snow in many areas. But after a relatively mild start to the year, it wasn't until at least four nor'easters and snowstorms arrived during the late winter and early spring that the state did indeed feel the wrath of extreme weather. There was even a storm in early April.

New Jersey got walloped in January by a blizzard that was perhaps the biggest the state has seen in years. The "bomb cyclone" also caused flooding and shut down roads, and at least one county imposed a travel ban.

Nearly 10 inches of snow fell in New Jersey in a mid-Feburary storm as the state dealt with speed restrictions, slippery roads and accidents on major highways and elsewhere.

More than 13 inches of snow fell as a nor'easter battered New Jersey. More than 35K were without power.

The "unprecedented" nor'easter snow left a lot of damage in its path, with more than 2 feet of snow falling, a countless number downed trees and wires and more than 300,000 without power. Some towns virtually shut down because of road conditions and downed wires.

The driver was killed going to help someone else in need in a March nor'easter. Helping others is something he was known for.

Winter storm alerts were issued in 19 counties for a New Jersey weather blast that packed a punch in mid-November, arriving in the form of a nor'easter that carried 55-mph winds, according to the National Weather Service. The Murphy criticisim drew heavy criticism for its resp0nse.
