Search For Suspects In 7 Mysterious NJ Crimes This Weekend

A person was shot and killed in a car crash. Another person was punched in a robbery. Yet another suspect fled on a bicycle.

A person was shot and killed in a car crash. Another person was punched in a robbery. Yet another suspect fled on a bicycle. These were just a few of the mysterious crimes that happened this weekend in New Jersey, leading police on a search for as many as 7 possible suspects.

Police even shut down a busy New Jersey highway on Sunday when a man was found with a fatal gunshot wound inside a Mercedes that crashed on Route 18 in Colts Neck. A drone was used to search for possible suspects as the road was shut down for nearly 10 hours.

  • An active manhunt remained underway after the mysterious highway shooting death that closed Route 18 in Colts Neck that left at least one other person was hospitalized, according to authorities. The Mercedes driver, Lloyd Earl Sanders, 54, of Neptune City was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. A 52-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He has been treated and released. Read more....
  • A search is underway for a suspect who fled a Point Pleasant Boro bank robbery Sunday on his bicycle, police said. The incident happened at approximately 11:15 a.m. when police responded to the TD Bank located at 3301 Bridge Ave. on a report of a bank robbery. Bank employees stated that an unmasked suspect had entered the bank, displayed a note, and demanded money. Read more....
  • A Rutgers student was punched and then robbed while walking on the streets of downtown New Brunswick just before 4 a.m. Sunday, April 29, police said. He was among three people robbed this past weekend in the Rutgers area, all while walking alone in New Brunswick after dark. Read more...
  • The same weekend three people were robbed in the Rutgers area, there were two burglaries either on and near the Rutgers campus. Loree Hall, at 72 Lipman Drive in New Brunswick, was broken into sometime between 8 a.m. on Saturday and 12:10 a.m. on Monday. That is a classroom building; the suspects used force to break into an unoccupied office in the building. Read more...

Also, detectives with the Middlesex County prosecutor's office have still been unable to notify the family of a man found dead this weekend in Sayreville, and therefore they are not releasing his name to the public, a prosecutor's spokeswoman said Monday morning.

The 21-year-old man was found dead in a home on Giera Court in Sayreville at approximately 7:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28. That is a condo complex on Ernston Road. Read more...

Newark authorities are also asking for the public's help finding a suspected burglar who allegedly broke into a Stuyvesant Avenue home.

According to a statement from the Newark Department of Public Safety, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Daquan Gary, 19, in connection with a burglary that took place between Wednesday, April 4 and Sunday, April 8. Read more....
