Blizzard Cleanup Continues In Point Pleasant Beach
Plows were out through the night working on the roads as the snow continues to fall. Many traffic lights are not functioning, officials say.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — Point Pleasant Beach public works crews were continuing to plow and salt roads on Monday evening as the cleanup goes on from more than 12 inches of snow.
The borough had opened a warming center for people who had been without electricity, and borough hall will remain closed on Tuesday, officials said. There will be no recycling or garbage collection.
Point Pleasant Beach schools will be closed as well, the school district said.

"I just want to give a shoutout to our DPW crews," Mayor Doug Vitale said. "I iust took a drive around town and all borough-owned streets are plowed and cleared.
"I recomend waiting until DPW plows have cleared your roadway prior to clearing your driveway," Vitale said. "Plows will push the snow back in your driveways."

He urged residents to continue to stay off the roads to allow snow plowing to continue safely and efficiently.
The warming center is at Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company 2 on Laurel Avenue, borough officials said. Residents who need transportation to the warming center can call the police departmenngt's non-emergency number at 732-892-0500.
Nearly 400 homes and businesses out of more than 3,900 remained without power Monday eveni, Jersey Central Power & Light said. The company was not giving time estimates on when power will be restored as more than 31,000 customers were out across Ocean County, but it had brought in crews from outside the state to assist with power restoration.

Borough officials reminded residents that they are responsible for clearing their sidewalks as soon as possible after the snow.
