Man Accused Of Child Sex Assault Was Also Crossing Guard In Princeton

The public school district has been notified of the charges against Nate Barson, the Princeton Packet reports.

PRINCETON, NJ — The Princeton Animal Control Officer who was suspended without pay after being charged with child sexual assault in Pennsylvania also served as a backup crossing guard for the municipality, the Princeton Packet reports.

Nate Barson, 29, of Lambertville, would’ve been on duty at a time when school-age children would be out in the streets, according to the report.

The town said it had already notified the public school district about the charges and of Barson’s role as a backup crossing guard, according to the report. The town is also reviewing Barson’s computer materials.

Barson was named Princeton Animal Control Officer in 2015. He replaced Mark Johnson, who parted ways with the town after it was revealed that 400 rabies vaccines provided to the town by the state were unaccounted for.

The town has already said Barson had no prior criminal record at the time he was hired.
